History Concentration, Arts and Sciences, A.A.

The History Concentration program is designed for those students who are planning to transfer to a four-year degree program in history or a related field. Program requirements include general education courses and the history survey courses required in order to advance to upper division coursework at most four-year programs in History.

Electives should be selected in consultation with a transfer advisor and the transfer institution. It is recommended that they include courses in history, political science, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and economics. Some recommended courses are listed below:

For those majors who are also interested in pursuing careers in teaching history at the secondary level, it is strongly recommended that you include the following courses in your electives/general education options and consult an academic advisor in Education as well as History:
