The Graphic Design Technology Certificate program consists of specialized courses. It has two basic goals: first, to upgrade the job performance of the working graphic designer, and second, to initiate the professional career development of those entering the graphic design field. A one-year certificate program provides for formal academic preparation without loss of credit if an associate of applied science degree is desired. Several of the classes are offered online, however please keep in mind that several exams will need to be taken in a supervised setting and that students must attend, in person, an evening orientation for each course.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:

Students will have the necessary skills and ability to use software and hardware to level necessary for success as a graphic designer.

Students will have the ability to apply software and hardware skills to solve visual design problems typically found in the fields to solve introductory visual design problems.

Student will demonstrate mastery of visual design and communication skills in a portfolio.

Student will be able to write a “design brief” which explains the project, what they are trying to achieve. Have the communication skills (effective written and oral) to discuss their project including: visual choices, target market, visual intentions and final output.
