ADJ 110 - Policing Theory, Practice and Skills (9 Credits) This course provides a historical look at the development of modern policing both internationally and within the United States, including the Maryland Criminal Justice System; professional discipline; issues of racism and excessive force, and other pressing issues. Recruits learn the practical and physical skills necessary to perform all the generalist law enforcement functions required of a line police officer or deputy sheriff, including safe and proficient use of firearms in law enforcement and the operation of an emergency vehicle under very demanding police patrol conditions per the standards set forth by The Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. This course is taught through the Police Academy only. Total of 135 contact hours.
