MAT 095 - Foundations of Reasoning & StatisticsPrerequisite: Appropriate score on the placement test. Corequisite: SDV 089 (students who have previously completed college coursework are exempt from needing SDV 089 ). (3 Credits) This is a preparatory course intended for students requiring/desiring a reasoning intensive general studies mathematics course. Critical thinking skills are developed through the study of experimental design and data collection, graphical representations of data, relationships of bivariate data (linear, logarithmic, and exponential), and simple interest. Terms, symbols, and basic operations of logic, set, and probability theories are also introduced. This course is designed to prepare students for MAT 115 or MAT 116 . Total of 45 hours of lecture.
