DHY 117 - Introduction to PeriodonticsPrerequisite: DHY 101 and DHY 102C .
Corequisite: DHY 110 and DHY 111C .

This course is designed to provide an introduction of the periodontium and its relationship to the pathogenesis of periodontal disease. It focuses on the relationships between periodontal disease, systemic health, prevention, risk assessments, classifications, and current modalities of treatment and management strategies. This course will stress the important role of the dental hygienist in ameliorating the disease process. Total of 30 lecture hours.
