ENV 202 - Fundamentals of Environmental Science II

Prerequisite: ENV 201 .
(4 Credits)
ENV 202 is a continuation of ENV 201 . It is required for all Environmental Studies majors pursing the Environmental Science area of concentration.  This course builds on the fundamental concepts learned in ENV 201 , with specific focus on energy, earth systems and human resource utilization. Students will explore interactions between humans and earth’s abiotic resources, including topics such as renewable and non-renewable resources, energy production, hydrologic resource use and associated global environmental impacts. Human-induced environmental issues such as loss of biodiversity, water and air pollution, global climate change, non-renewable resource consumption and toxic and solid waste production will be examined, as well as related governmental policies associated with  these issues. Solutions to environmental issues will be explored within a social framework that includes the social and cultural construct of environmental issues and different points of view. * Biological/Physical Science and Lab Approved General Education Course.  Total of 45 hours of lecture and 45 hours of lab.

Semesters Offered: Spring Only, All Years.
