THR 115 - Introduction to Theater Makeup (3 Credits) This course provides an introduction to makeup design for the theater. Students learn the aesthetics of makeup as well as the technical aspects of applying makeup. Topics include the importance of developing a character through makeup, techniques of physically applying makeup to the actor and special effects makeup such as old age and prosthetic makeup appliances. At the end of the course, students are able to research and identify elements of creating a character through makeup and the application of stage makeup to an actor in order to create a character for the stage. Total of 45 hours of lecture.
