HUM 214 - World ReligionsPrerequisite: RDG 095 or appropriate score on the placement test. (3 Credits) Society is religiously diverse; and in the global community, religion affects domestic as well as foreign relations. In order to live, work and build community together, it is essential to have an understanding of religious traditions other than one’s own. This course enables students to discover what others believe and how they live, and to gain a better understanding of their own unique background. The course examines the components of religion and explores what makes a tradition religious. Students are introduced to core beliefs, sacred texts and spiritual practices of the major world religions as well as some of the emerging religious movements. Throughout the course, students will examine the impact of religious traditions on contemporary issues. * Diversity Approved General Education Course. Total of 45 hours of lecture.
