The course examines the world’s ocean from an earth system perspective. The content in this course emphasizes (1) water and energy flow and transformations into and out of the ocean, (2) properties of seawater (3) ocean circulation, (4) marine life, (5) interactions between the hydrosphere, atmosphere, geosphere, and biosphere, and (6) the human/societal impacts on these interactions. * Biological/Physical Science and Lab Approved General Education Course. Laboratory fee required. Total of 45 hours of lecture and 45 hours of lab.
