The mathematics option is a sequence of courses for students planning to transfer into upper-division programs not only in abstract mathematics, but also mathematics-related programs including secondary teaching, statistics, finance, and computer programming. To earn the associate’s degree in mathematics, a minimum of 16 credit hours in Mathematics courses at the 200 level must be completed. Selection of the appropriate courses in each individual program must be done carefully with an academic advisor familiar with the requirements of the transfer institution. Graduates of mathematics programs at all levels are very attractive to employers because they have highly developed problem-solving skills which are in high demand within the workforce.
