This curriculum is for students seeking an associate of applied science degree for employment with law enforcement, corrections or the judicial system. The program may also be undertaken as a basis for transfer to a four-year degree program. However, students interested in doing so, should consult with program faculty and advising staff.

Note:
* Students considering completing their baccalaureate degree with University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) in criminal justice should consider taking one of the statistics courses and the public speaking course to fulfill UMGC’s foundation course requirements.
* Students who may have a criminal record need to be aware this could preclude them from employment in this field. Please discuss concerns with the program coordinator. Additionally, students need to be aware that excessive prior drug use may prevent their employment in the state of Maryland as well. Please direct questions about this to the program coordinator.
