The A.A.T. English program is intended for students who wish to teach English in Maryland’s secondary schools. It is the result of a statewide effort by two and four year faculty to arrive at the appropriate outcomes for the first two years of secondary English teacher training. The English and General Education course provide a sound foundation for the completion of the English major and the Education courses ensure informed career choice and real-world knowledge of today’s classrooms.
Program Requirements:
- Maintain a minimum grade of “C” or better in all program requirement courses
- Obtain a minimum 2.75 GPA
- Submit a professional portfolio that meets the standards of the Education faculty
- Earn a passing score on a basic skills test of high school level reading, writing, and math (PRAXIS I, SAT, ACT, or GRE), or a 3.0 GPA
