BIO 113 - Principles of Biology IPrerequisite: MAT 099 and ENG 099 or appropriate score on placement test.
Corequisite: CHM 101 or higher. Successful completion of high school chemistry within the last 5 years is an acceptable substitute for CHM 101 .

This is the first semester of a two-semester sequence for biology and pre-health science and science majors. The course includes: an introduction to molecular structure and biochemistry, cell structure, cell energetics and metabolism, classical and human genetics, DNA structure. Students are expected to continue the sequence with or BIO 114 or BIO 201 . Laboratory fee required. 45 hours of lecture and 45 hours of lab.
