NUR 226 - Behavioral Health NursingPrerequisite: NUR 127 and NUR 229 . (4 Credits) This course assists the student in acquiring the basic knowledge and skills needed to provide care to clients with behavioral health problems. Principles and concepts of behavioral health nursing, therapeutic communication techniques, and use of the nursing process to plan care will be discussed. Clinical practice occurs in a variety of acute and community based settings. In order to progress in the Nursing Program, a grade of 75% or above must be achieved on all exams and a 75% or above must be attained on all course requirements. A grade of 90% or above must be attained on a dosage calculations exam in this course. Laboratory fee required. Total of 45 hours of lecture, 13 hours of simulation exercises, and 41 hours of clinical.
