DNC 102 - Hip-Hop History (3 Credits) This course takes students on a journey through the rich and vibrant history of hip-hop as an evolving movement deeply tied to broader cultural and socioeconomic contexts. Students will delve into the primary elements of hip-hop culture, including emceeing, graffiti, dj-ing, and breakdancing, and examine their intricate relationships with various urban dance forms. The course also emphasizes the enduring impact of these style on current artists, fostering an appreciation for the evolution of hip-hop dance over time. * Arts/Humanities Approved General Education Course. Total of 45 hours of lecture.
