HIM 111 - Healthcare Delivery SystemsPrerequisite: MAP 102 . (3 Credits) This course introduces students to a variety of health care settings including acute care, ambulatory care, long-term care, home health care, and hospice. The role of the health information manager is emphasized and studied for each setting. Historical aspects of American health care in the twentieth century are presented. Topics such as services, staffing, regulatory issues, confidentiality, health care legislation, licensure and certification, quality improvement, utilization, and risk management are covered. Semester Offered: Spring Semester Only. Course fee required. Total of 45 hours of lecture.
