BTC 102 - Introduction to Applied Biotechnology Research: LabPrerequisite: RDG 095 or appropriate score on the placement test AND MAT 095 , MAT 090 , or appropriate score on the placement test. (3 Credits) This is an entry-level skills based course for science students (including dual-enrolled ESSENCE high school students) interested in the biotechnology program. Students will gain first-hand knowledge of basic laboratory applications and skills needed for careers in biotechnology. Basic laboratory applications in biotechnology such as DNA purification, gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digestion, bacterial cloning and, PCR, as well as other topics, will be covered. Interested students should contact the biotechnology program coordinator to determine if this course is appropriate. This course does not fulfill a lab/science General Education requirement. Course fee required. Total of 90 hours of laboratory.
