NUR 229 - Nursing Care of the Acute and Chronically Ill Adult I

Prerequisite: NUR 116  and NUR 117 .
(4 Credits)
This course prepares the student to acquire the advanced knowledge and skills needed to provide care to adults with acute and chronic alterations in wellness. Emphasis will be placed on use of the nursing process when providing care to clients with acute and chronic medical-surgical issues. Clinical practice occurs in a variety of acute and community based settings. In order to progress in the Nursing Program, a grade of 75% or above must be achieved on all exams and a 75% or above must be attained on all course requirements. A grade of 90% or above must be attained on a dosage calculations exam in this course. Laboratory fee required. Total of 40 hours of lecture, 3 hours of laboratory, 15 hours of simulation exercises, and 55 hours of clinical.
